A focused study on theperception of the city constructed by 17th perspective engravingsof Rome was the subject of a Rome Prize research project. A seriesof analytical drawings demonstrate how these perspectives distortand condition our understanding of the city of Rome. Corollarieswere drawn between the manipulations in Falda's drawings and theworks of contemporary artists on the perception of cities throughphotography. The research methodology developed proved to be veryeffective in revealing latent information hidden within thetechniques of architectural production.
